Hope I'm writing in the good forum (and sorry for my faults, my french and spanish are better).

I'm a beginner in WordPress and a happy customer tile I purchased the 'Social Gallery WordPress Photo Viewer Plugin' by Stormgate in http://codecanyon.net.

It was very easy to install and I'm using it on my website til 4 months.

When I received news from Socialgalleryplugin in november, I was waiting for the improvements in new version 2.0.

I don't know if I miss it but I spent hours to find how to install it, that's why I paste 'instructions' hopping it can be useful for other beginners.

I found this comments in :

Q. How Do I upgrade from the previous version.
R. “You have already purchased this file. You can download it here. If you wish, you can purchase it again.”

Delete the v1.4 from your plugin dashboard, and upload and activate the v2.0

Then, I saw that the update was available in WP too: WP>Dashboard>Social Gallery.

GREAT, all is ok for update!

Hi MeliMeloMok,

Were you able to update the plugin successfully?
It looks like you are still running version 1.4 - there are some instructions to upgrade within the documentation:

Hope this helps

I will look for instructions and update it after taking a full backup of my database and website, so as you advice me in next thread.
I will be back to let you know if all is ok.

Hi Guys,

Also please read this and understand it before moving from v1.4 to v2.0:

Just update WP and Plugin, it's ok. But I loose previous comments from v1.4 and like counts. :(

Hi MeliMeloMok,

If you read the post I put:

You'll read about this, specifically in this paragraph:

The most important thing to note when moving from v1.4 to version 2.0 is this new feature (Social Gallery Pages.) – By switching to using Social Gallery Pages your blog images WILL be associated with new URLS from facebook, twitter and the other social media sites point of view, this will mean that your previous comments & likes remain on the original page urls (url.com/#sg1 etc.) – This is how Social Gallery used to deal with unique urls – via a “hash index”. You CAN maintain exact same functionality of URLS (leave the URLS with hash indexs in place from v1.4) by disabling “Social Gallery Pages” and setting the fallback URL to “Hash Index”.) … however I do not recommend you do this for future features of Social Gallery – and indeed best practice is to use Social Gallery Pages. In short – it’s going to mean a refresh of the comments/likes etc. (which will remain attributed to your pages) – but it’s a necessary move to a proper, professional solution.
