View Full Version : Social Gallery same facebook comment showing in all Next Gallery photos

Hi,

After installing Social Gallery in wordpress to work with Next Gallery photo plugin.

Problem:
- Social Gallery facebook same comment showing in all Next Gallery photos (across the galleries/albums) - how does one stop the same comment which is meant for 1 x photo not to be repeated on other photos?
- Also, the "likes" get repeated for the whole photo gallery rather than just one photo - How can one make comments/like for just one photo without being repeated for the gallery?
- Is there a way to find out who has liked the photo - as the facebook profile name does not show up?

Thanks!:o:

Hi ArtWeb,

Thanks for taking the time to join the forum.

Could I ask - are you using Version 2.0? If not that'll fix this issue. If you are using V2.0 and are still experiencing this then please do post a link to your site and I'll take a look!

Cheers

same problem here....
The only way to fix it, is the Fallback: to Image
But i dont want to publish the Url of the Image to Facebook and Co... :-)

the Update Engine found no Pic from NextGen or JIG...

heres a link (http://www.fotoglut.de/fotogalerie/landschaft-natur/)

fotoglut - did you do a full scan or a quick scan? If NextGen is on gallery mode and linking out to the images correctly then it should always find them.

There will definitely be a way to make it work for you, looking at your link I can see your using JIG - but Social Gallery isn't putting out the image list like it should be. Social Gallery does work fine with JIG (here's the example (http://www.socialgalleryplugin.com/social-gallery-justified-image-grid-examples/)) so I am sure we can get it working for you.

Hi Woods,
iam sure that we found a way that it will work...

i did a full scan, and the Updater says: "Everything seems to be up to date :)"

i Use:
WP 3.5, Next Gen and JIG are the actual ones....

Hi fotoglut,

Thanks for replying here.

Seems strange that your still getting "Everything seems up to date" - are your images attached as per normal to the post?

Could you tell me what version of JIG (Justified Image Grid) you are using?

... also could you try going into the post/page and just making a small change then updating it (add a space or something) - this should fire Social Gallery's "collection" routine and check through the post/page again and re-get the images? (You'll need to enable Social Gallery Pages to fully test this.)

Cheers

Hi,
its JIG Version 1.4
Even with new created Sites there are no Social Pages for NextGen (JIG) Gallery Pictures.
But i would say, we look at first for the other Problem see here: http://forum.socialgalleryplugin.com/showthread.php/16-Permalink-Issue-from-moving-WordPress-Install

eventually solves that this problem even...

Hi fotoglut,

Yeah - your perhaps right - lets address the other one first in case this is related.

Hi ArtWeb,
did you find an solution for the Facebook Galery Issue?

fotoglut
01-10-2013, 10:47 PM
Hi Woods,

now iam a little bit further...
When i creata a "Blogentry (http://www.fotoglut.de/2012/neues-foto-willkommen-in-dresden/)" it works all fine.
The comment shown up on Facebook with the right Picture and the Comment only on that Singlepicture.

But on my Gallery Pages (http://www.fotoglut.de/fotogalerie/landschaft-natur/) no Picture send to Facebook, and the Comment shown up on the whole Gallery...
Even if i take a look at the Social Gallery Image Libary there a no pictures from the Gallery. And there are no SG-Pages created...
This Picture is shown up on an Blogentry, theres a Page, a single Facebookentry and the Picture is in the SG-Image Libary, but not if you open it over the Galery (first Pic), only over the Blogentry.
The second pictures in the Galery dont have an Blogentry, its only found at the Galery and its not in the SG-Image Libary, so it dont work for that or any other Picture in the Galerypages...

the code for the Galerypage: [justified_image_grid preset=12 nggallery=2]

One think i found in the JIG Settings.
At the Chapter: "Lightboxes" stands: Social Gallery (not active!) is purchased separately, here.
I do not know if this is the error, but I've also emailed that to Firsh.

ok, in JIG now all fine, but the problem still the same....
Any Idea?

Hi fotoglut,

OK I've taken a decent look at all of your pages - I can see there's definitely something playing up on your "Gallery Pages" - but I don't think its caused by Social Gallery.

Here's some things I've noticed about the differences between your working and not working pages:

1. You are getting this javascript warning ONLY on your Gallery pages (suggests theres some javascript difference on these pages) Message is:

Received message of type number from http://jetpack.wordpress.com (http://jetpack.wordpress.com/), expected a string

... you should probably look into fixing this as javascript errors can knock other scripts over.

2. You have a bunch of javascript at the bottom of your "Gallery Pages" that you don't have at the bottom of your blogpost - what is it - is it meant to be there? It's likely some javascript somewhere on your page which is causing these issues... (It's not Social Gallery but some other plugin or script in your theme which is causing them)

3. Body tags - if you load up your post page everything is fine, but loading up your Gallery Pages you'll see a disturbing issue in the Element Inspector (I'm using chrome)... you have two body tags!

.... I was half way through writing this and then I see you have fixed the issue - is it now fixed? could you please share what was causing it and how you resolved?

Cheers

sorry cant testing at this moment... iam on Work the next 6 Hours....

the only thing i changed the last 5 or 6 days was the JQUERY.
It was loaded from Google with Fallback to the Wordpress one...
But Yesterday i see, that nothing works with that, an i changed it to the one wo is bundled with JIG.

woods

No worries,

Yeah there's a bug in the latest jQuery which is causing all kinds of mischief, I am sure they'll fix that pretty quick.

i played around a little bit, an delete all Plugins not realy need at that moment.
But the Problem stills the same...
If i use the "JIG SinglePicture from NGG" its works fine, and on the Gallerypages the Comment shows up on All Pictures, and no Social Galery Page are created for the Pictures...

Single Pic (http://www.fotoglut.de/2013/frohes-neues-happy-new-year-2/) from NGG with JIG (works fine)

Gallery Views (http://www.fotoglut.de/fotogalerie/musik/)... (dont work)

Hi Fotoglut,

OK I am still not 100% why this is working but I can take a guess.

In example, your social gallery database has the following image logged against your gallery view page referenced above:

http://www.fotoglut.de/wp-content/gallery/testgallery/100805_0003_unbenannt.jpg

But the actual image is linking to:

http://www.fotoglut.de/wp-content/gallery/landschaft/101216_0002_unbenannt.jpg

... obviously this isn't correct. I can presume that you've renamed the gallery (testgallery -> landschaft) but the page hasn't been updated, hence Social Gallery hasn't re-parsed that original page and got the new gallery urls. In fact this makes sense to me, so if it does to you that's probably whats happened.

... if it is this case then all you'll need to do is to go into that page, make a small edit (add a space to the end or similar) and then update the post, that'll kick Social Gallery into re-parsing the post and updating the links to the correct images.

... let me know how you get on with that!

Have a great weekend dude!

http://www.fotoglut.de/wp-content/gallery/landschaft/101216_0002_unbenannt.jpg

That are two different Pictures....
But your right with the "Testgallery" thats the Gallery Music, and that dont work, i will fix that, but its not the Problem, sorry :(

See here:
Landschaft (http://www.fotoglut.de/fotogalerie/landschaft-natur/) - Galery
Silvester (http://www.fotoglut.de/2013/frohes-neues-happy-new-year-2/) - first Picture from the "Landschaft", build in with JIG NGG-SInglePicture => same Picture, same link (http://www.fotoglut.de/wp-content/gallery/landschaft/silvester_12_13.jpg)!
Singlepicture Works (see the comment), but Gallery dont work...

But its fine to see, that we booth are

PS: On Sunday i load a new Gallery to the Web and create a new Gallerypage for that, lets seee what happens...

woods
01-19-2013, 07:45 AM
I see. For some reason that gallery page isn't being recognised as having images by Social Gallery. Perhaps it's that you had it on a different JIG setting and then changed it? Anyhow - lets see what happens on Sunday!

the Upload is done (fotoglut.de/fotogalerie/musik/betontod/), the Problem are the same....

The Scan found one new Page, but NO new Images, and if you comment ONE Picture, it shows up on all Pictures.

Hi fotoglut,

Sorry for the slow reply, I've been hectic this week.

I see - what's happening is your justified image grid settings are totally separating the images from the post, something in the JIG settings means the the post is not actually putting out any images, it's loading them after load via javascript (jQuery) - that's why Social Gallery isn't finding them.

Could you send me a screen of the settings your using please - I'll attempt to work out what's causing this and maybe work out a fix for putting in v2.1

:)

Hello, I am new hear and just purchased this plug-in, I just read through this whole thread and am not usng the JIG plugin only Nextgen gallery, i am having the exact same issue as the one quoted. The comments only display correctly and like button on one image when the fallback setting is set to image url and i would prefer it to be on page url.

The other thing is that the buttons I want displayed are all out of alignment as well what can be done? Right now I am not sure if I am happy or not with this purchase, I don;t want to be upset about it but it's just not working the way I thought it would with these little fruit flys! please help thanks

Hi Tommyboy12,

Are your Nextgen galleries inserted as pages? They'll need to be output somewhere for Social Gallery to find them.

Which like buttons are you using?

The best solution is Social Gallery Pages (http://www.socialgalleryplugin.com/social-gallery-pages/), using any fallback URL isn't perfect (hence it's called a fallback URL) - so it's best to get that working first. Lets try and get that sorted.

I am sure we can get it sorted for you Tommyboy, we have had hundreds of happy users it's just a matter of getting it sitting right :)

Yes, I spent a few hours getting use to it, I only have facebook buttons, few questions...
1. How can i make the right hand white box smaller so that when using 1 or 2 buttons it doesn't look ridiculous?
2. is it possible to position the white box now with buttons on either the top or bottom? and how would i go about that?

**3. when I have all buttons enabled they are not in a good design order they float hear and there?**
The "EVEN" image is yours

Hi Tommyboy12, here's some answers for you:

1) there's no great way right now - apart from overriding the CSS yourself
2) No it's not possible as it is - it'd take some fancy CSS or some Javascript to make that work.
3) I've not had any other complaints of this - is this in a specific browser?

Hi Woods,

did you found the Time to find a way for the entire Problem?
That all Pics have the same FB Content, or other, that no SG Page is generatet when using SG with JIG on an Next Generation Galerie?

I see that Firsh works on with V2.1, i hope that fixed it? Then the Question of all Questions, when did V2.1 released? :-)

woods
03-05-2013, 08:29 AM
Hey fotoglut,

I thought we fixed those? lol. Wasn't it the AJAX loading of galleries?

v2.1 is mostly done, though theres a few bits I want to add, unfortunately I haven't been able to get to it yet but I hope to give it some time this week :) So hopefully this week for a release... though realistically maybe next week!

Thanks for your patience guys!

Hi woods,

bad news....

the same error with the Version 2.1.

Comments to one Pic show on all other. And no thumbnail goes to Facebook.

The error apears only if i take the JIG for an NextGen Gallery. The Single Picture Mode of JIG works fine with SG...

It appears that there was an issue with version 2.1 that was uploaded to CodeCanyon. Could you please download the latest version from CodeCanyon again and re-test?

Hi

Are you using v2.2? It's now up on CodeCanyon and should be working for you. If not please do post back on here (sorry for keep asking you to re-download an update) v2.1 had quite a few bugs sneak in so v2.2 fixes a lot of these and makes it a lot more stable.

Cheers

Hi,
i loaded and installed the Versions on the Server 30 min bevor i post...
Think it should be the newest ;-)

Even Justified Image Grid are the newest one, i think.

The Code on the Page to generate the Gallery:

[justified_image_grid preset=12 lightbox=no nggallery=2]

Social Gallery: Version 2.2
Justified Image Grid: Version 1.4.7
NextGEN Gallery: Version 1.9.12

Hmmm interesting. This may sound a silly thing to try, but have you tried uninstalling both JiG and Social Gallery and then re-installing them? Perhaps installing social gallery first? I'm just wondering if it has something to do with the order that the plugins are installed (e.g. if Social Gallery or JiG checks for something in one of the others upon install and it's not there)

fotoglut
03-31-2013, 07:54 PM
i try that, no Changes...
All PopUp Works fine, the normal IMG, the Single Picture JIGs even the NGG (normal) works fine.
Only the JIG generatet NGG Galery View dont work...

We'll get there :)

fotoglut

Hi again, and thanks for your help....

that's not the Problem, the SG Opens fine, but then the Problem begin :-)

If you make an Facebook Comment to ONE Photo 3 things get wrong.

1. the comment appears on ALL Photos of the Gallery
2. Facebook shows the wrong picture (mostly the picture set in NGG as default)
3. Facebook links to the Gallery (or better the Page) not to the Picture

I think Social Gallery cant catch the Pictures and set the Fallback URL (ok, so that works).

>>Only the JIG generated NGG Gallery View doesn't work... <<

I work on my site with two „Picturegallerys“
For the normal Blockpost i use the WordpressGallery, there goes all the Pictures SG should DONT open, like Productpictures from third Party.. (thats works fine)

then i use NextGEN Gallery to present my Pictures, like the Landscape or the Betontod you tried..
For that Presentation Pages i use Justified Image Grid to display the Pictures.

So JIG generates an Gallery View from NGG. ( [justified_image_grid preset=12 lightbox=no nggallery=2] )

And thats the point where SG dont works fine (see above).

For testing purpose i create an NGG View direcly, using the NGG diretcly ( [nggallery id=2] ), that works even fine...

mikemayhem3030
04-01-2013, 08:31 PM
Ah OK I see what's going on now. The Facebook Comment issue is down to what's set in the "date-href" attribute for the comment box display. For that gallery it's always http://www.fotoglut.de/fotogalerie/musik/betontod/ and it doesn't change when you move from image to image (which will cause the same comment to stick).

The fact it's not sharing the correct image, is a facebook meta tag issue (on your site its: <meta property="og:image" content="http://i0.wp.com/www.fotoglut.de//wp-content/gallery/betontod/betontod-beim-drm-2012.jpg?resize=300,300" />) if that isn't being updated each time the image is navigated to the next that will cause problems.

One thing to check (if it doesn't work will be a bug in the code unfortunately).

1.) Are you using Social Gallery pages? You could try using the Image URL to see if that helps fix things (it's not *as* good as using the pages but it's still good). If you're not using Social Gallery pages - can you try using them?

Mike

sorry for the long absence, a lot of work...

i try something around, but nothing helps.
Yes, i use the Pages, the changes dont effect somthing....

But i get a hint from firsh (JIG).

>>...But if you do, you can try FooBox which works by sharing (not liking) and is unaffected by link rel=ícanonicalí. If you do not wish to / canít remove link rel=ícanonicalí contact me and Iíll set it up for you as a small customization. Itíll involve seeing the liked photoís thumbnail and a server side method that is reliable.

(Only briefly related to your problem but I thought it was worth pasting here.)

Tell them this (that your site isn't using social-gallery/imagename), and they should be able to help with this further.>>

unfortunately I have not yet figured out how to turn it off the NGG.

It should work fine if you're using social gallery pages, however if it's still sharing the image URL with NextGen / JIG we'll look into it more on the next release planned for later in the year.

I think facebook puts image "likes" in a different place than page likes and since, under certain settings of the plugin (or certain combinations with nextgen) it ends up liking the image URL that facebook puts these somewhere else.

It's a facebook thing at the end of the day and not something Social Gallery v2.2. can control, we'll keep it in mind for v3.0 later in the year though.
